Lean Manufacturing
Stonebridge set out in 1999, to dramatically improve its manufacturing and delivery lead-times. The company recognized that increasingly competitive markets would no longer accept 8 — 12 weeks lead-time, and our then on-time delivery at just 17 percent. Over the course of three years, the entire company worked at all levels to establish new objectives, learning and implementing lean manufacturing techniques, redesigning machine shop layout, improving technologies and squeezing waste out of the production processes.
The results have been nothing short of astonishing, and Stonebridge is proud to report that the foundation put in place in 2000 now allows the company to deliver exceptional customer service:
At the same time as Stonebridge was working with both the Maine and Massachusetts MEP (Manufacturing Extension Partnership), the company was also documenting its internal processes in order to obtain its ISO 9001:2000 compliant status, which was achieved in May, 2003.
We are not done. We are working every day at identifying new ways to become even leaner, in order to provide our customers even better service.
